It’s monograms. It’s camouflage. It’s monogramouflage

Louis Vuitton is to officially announce tomorrow the upcoming Brooklyn retrospective of Takashi Murakami which will coincide with the launch of a new collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Murakami.

The most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of internationally acclaimed contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami includes more than ninety works in various media that span the artist’s entire career, installed in more than 18,500 square feet of gallery space.

Murakami works in both fine arts media, such as painting, as well as digital and commercial media. He attempts to blur the boundaries between high and low art. He appropriates popular themes from mass media and pop culture, then turns them into thirty-foot sculptures, “Superflat” paintings, or marketable commercial goods such as figurines or phone caddies.
