The building materials are Mexican and largely organic, the inlaid-pebble walkways are from local riverbeds; the latilla ceilings are made with wood from Mexico’s mainland; the palapas are created from local palm thatch; and, instead of carpeting, Mexican conchuela stone floors were put down.

Entrepreneur with a Soul

The day I met Tonino Cacace, second generation owner of one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, the Capri Palace Hotel & Spa , was few weeks before my recent arrival to Anacapri.

I Can’t Believe I’m Still Around!

I just received an email on my Blackberry that the coming winter there is going to be the coldest, longest and snowiest in the last 50 years. I decided to extend my Summer a little longer in a wonderful hidden spot in Anacapri between the coastline and the higher reaches of the island of Capri. Here, ancient Greeks and Roman emperors spent their time overlooking the breathtaking views of the Sorrentine Peninsula on the magnificent Gulf of Naples.

Art, Garden and Olives

It’s such a great feeling to come back from hectic Florence and have a nice walk around the peaceful garden here at the Villa. Throughout the centuries it has been the tradition for Italian nobility to be patrons to great artists. Villa Mangiacane stays true to this sponsoring on-site artist from Zimbabue and abroad, and numerous art exhibitions openings.
