The Travel Photographer
As Oscar Wilde once said: “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” It’s been a few months that I have been trying to meet with Tewfic El-Sawy. When he’s in London, I am in Bombay, when he’s in New York I am in Brussels, when he’s in Brussels I am in Brazil.
From Wall Street to Tree Tops
I’ve been working 16 hours a day including weekends, traveling like crazy, it’s hilarious to realize that when you get on a plane, the flight attendant already knows you by the name… I have no idea of what a personal life is, but wasn’t it Einstein who said ” In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity?” What have you been up to? By the way, that “story” of getting out of Wall Street is nowadays very well accepted by former bankers!”
Change is Inevitable
An American with the name Barack Hussein Obama, the son of a white woman and a black man he barely knew, raised by his grandparents far outside the stream of American power and wealth, has been elected the 44th president of the United States.
A Star of a Chef
Part of the my success in loosing weight at the spa is due to the Executive chef Oliver Glowig at the Capri Palce Hotel & Spa.
I asked Caroline Courteau the guest management relations to have a talk with him as I apart from wanting to bring a few of delicious recipes at home, is to understand the philosophy of the Mediterranean cuisine being so simple and the belief of the Spa staff to be the most balanced diet in the world.
Entrepreneur with a Soul
The day I met Tonino Cacace, second generation owner of one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, the Capri Palace Hotel & Spa , was few weeks before my recent arrival to Anacapri.
He happened to hear I was visiting his Palace, and like a Greek god coming down the Olympus, had someone call me in to present himself so that luckily, I could pay gracefully my respects with an absolute stunning interview.
When Krishna Stopped in Capri
The Bansuri is a transverse alto flute of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, made of a single length of bamboo with six or seven open finger holes. An ancient musical instrument associated with cowherds and the pastoral tradition, intimately linked to the love story of Krishna and Radha.
Man with a Vision
The island’s most renowned photographer, D’Aniello, takes dazzling black and white images of the island’s grottos and cliffs, its jet setters and trendy beaches, its ancient palaces, churches, and cemeteries, and the people who live out their daily lives against this most romantic of backdrops to a place whose history and beauty have made of the world’s most magical locals.
Bochic
At Bochic, they are not afraid to dare, reuse, recycle, reinvent, reconstruct, or recreate. Like in Bohemia, it is all about the atmosphere, a way of life, a mental state of mind. Just like poets, painters, absinthe drinkers, or dandies, their work is timeless in movement where ethnicity and classical elegance blend in with natural nonchalance.
My Name is Yela
I heard about a girl, who lived 250 years ago, and before leaving her house to get married, wrote a letter of her good fortune in love. Her letter apparently was found during renovations to the house she lived in. I must find that place before I leave Marrakech.
