Venetian Shopping

Venice is uniquely famous for its local crafts that have been produced here for centuries and are hard to get elsewhere: the glassware from Murano, the delicate lace from Burano, and the marbled paper. You’ll find them in specialized botteghe, (shops) where you can watch artisans paint amid their wares.

Amit: the Persian Mascheraio

“Where are you from?” I ask. He does not answer. “I have a blog on lifestyle and once I had an Iranian passport. Can we have a talk”, I shoot. Amit lifts one eyebrow from the small calculator he was holding in his hand and visibly happy to get a break, and talk with an ex-Iranian, tells me his story and gladly shows me around.

The Neapolitan Crib

The construction of a Neapolitan crib traditionally begins the on the eight of December from storage pulling out the “basis” of the previous year (a skeleton cork and cardboard resting on a wooden table, without pastors and various decorations) and the possible enlargement like adding the wood oven or ruscelletto (small river) with water and a few more sheep in the flock is discussed in the family and with children.

Lifestyle in Napoli

Napoli called me back! After being in rainy and humid Brussels for only a few days, I got invited to stay with a friend in Capri at his small penthouse with a view of the romantic Mount Vesuvius in the Posillipo quarter.
